Moms on a Mission Fashion Show to benefit Hammer Residences

Apr 20, 2019 07:20AM ● By Angela Bernhardt

Hammer Residences was founded in 1923 by Alvina Hammer, a courageous and creative woman who believed that individuals living with developmental disabilities had the right to lead lives as normal as possible. She believed that in a loving and supported atmosphere, individuals with developmental disabilities would feel secure, develop self-confidence and be able to live life to its fullest.

Today, more than 95 years later, this steadfast commitment of caring continues. Hammer now serves 285 individuals who live in 46 group homes and apartments throughout the western suburbs of Minneapolis. David Pierce (pictured in 1968 with Evelyn Carlson, Director of Hammer) was born with Down Syndrome and came to Hammer as a five year old. David continues to live at Hammer today, with the right supports at the right time, allowing him to grow and flourish to live a full and meaningful life.

The financial support of the community, and events like Moms on a Mission, provides this high quality, compassionate care for David and all those who call Hammer home. Thank you for making a difference!!

All fashion show attendees receive a swag bag with gift certificates from participating vendors worth $40+ ~ the value is greater than the general admission ticket for $20. VIP guests receive front row seating, special bling, a drink ticket, appetizers and access to a VIP lounge area with private bar. Limited seating available.

We have 70+ volunteers coming together to raise money for families to rest easy that their children with disabilities will be taken care of for their lifetimes while at the same time creating an event that will provide an evening of fun for moms, ladies and their friends. If you are free Friday, May 10th from 6:30-10:00 pm, please come enjoy a fashion show, shopping, and more importantly, to support this important cause.
